Government Applications for USF Programs

Supply Chain Management
As organizations increasingly feel the pressure of rising operating expenses and inefficient processes, supply chain management has emerged as the most critical business discipline in the world today. The good news is that with the right training, you can master your supply chain and put it to work for you. Earn your Master Certificate in Supply Chain Management, then hone your expertise in two powerful business philosophies with advanced specialized certificates in green and Lean supply chain management.

Government example:

Three government agencies – the U.S. Transportation Command, Defense Logistics Agency and U.S. General Services Administration – established a formal partnership focused on improving supply chain management across their organizations. The agreement defines a number of specific goals, which include: improving operations, information sharing and integrated supply chain planning; adopting shared processes to gain efficiencies in the delivery of goods and services to the armed forces; determining IT requirements to enhance troop support capabilities; and seeking partnership opportunities wherever possible. Beyond optimizing supply solutions for the military, the successful implementation of this initiative will save taxpayer dollars.

Sales and Sales Management
While most people associate “sales” with products and services, it plays an equally important role in promoting ideas, gaining cooperation and impacting decisions. Learn how to use consultative selling techniques to establish a positive relationship with your audience and increase their receptiveness to your message. Earn your Master Certificate in Sales and Sales Management.

Government example:

Federal employees are often called on to inform, recruit, influence and/or persuade others, in activities that run the gamut from upselling services to postal customers, to fundraising for arts and cultural institutions, to courting selection committees for international conventions and sporting events. As many have learned, passively presenting the facts is unlikely to spur people to action, while a hard-sell approach may actually drive them away. The solution is to establish a mutually beneficial partnership between “buyer” and “seller” that enables both sides to come out ahead. Today, government workers are leveraging proven sales tactics to achieve successful outcomes in many different fields and job functions.

Internet Marketing

Organizations everywhere are demanding greater accountability for marketing expenditures, and government agencies are no exception. Faced with the high cost and long lead time of traditional media — as well as the difficulty of proving a return on investment — smart marketers have turned to the Web. Learn how you can maximize every marketing dollar through integrated online campaigns: Earn your Master Certificate in Internet Marketing, then enhance your expertise with advanced specialized certificates in web analytics or social media.

Government example:

Given the inherent challenges of communicating with an audience that encompasses every eligible voter in the country, modern presidential candidates have been at the vanguard of the Internet revolution. Interactive marketing strategies have evolved from websites and email campaigns to social media and Web 2.0. YouTube and viral videos offer a virtual alternative to the campaign rally, while social communities enable individuals to share information and show public support for their chosen candidates. Search engine marketing also plays a critical role, helping politicians to get their names and their platforms out in front of voters at large. With new interactive technologies emerging on almost a daily basis, political candidates have opportunities for an increasingly personal relationship with individual constituents — paving the way for the one-on-one marketing of tomorrow.
